Short answer: at PickPackShip, pick, pack and ship starts at $3.25 per order, pallet storage is $30 per pallet per month, and box storage is $4 per month. Most New Jersey 3PL quotes are built from the same four cost blocks: receiving, storage, fulfillment and shipping.
What are the four cost blocks in a 3PL quote?
Almost every third-party logistics quote breaks down into receiving your inventory, storing it, picking and packing each order, and the carrier label. If a provider gives you a single blended number, ask them to split it into these four lines so you can compare offers properly.
How much does receiving inventory cost?
- Box inbound or outbound: $2 per box
- Pallet inbound or outbound: $10 per pallet
- Palletizing loose cartons: $15 per pallet
- Container unloading: $700 per container
- Container crossdocking: $400 per container
Sending floor-loaded containers is cheaper on the ocean freight side but more expensive to unload, so factor unloading into the landed cost of every shipment.
How much does warehouse storage cost per month?
- Pallet storage: $30 per pallet per month
- Box storage: $4 per box per month
- Small bin: $3, medium bin: $4, large bin: $5 per month
Storage is the line most sellers underestimate. Slow-moving SKUs quietly eat margin, so review inventory age every quarter and clear anything that has not moved in six months.
How much does pick, pack and ship cost per order?
A single-item order at PickPackShip costs $3.25: $0.50 to pick the first item, $2.00 to pack, and $0.50 for shipping handling. Each additional item in the same order adds $0.50. Packaging is billed separately at $0.25 for a mailer or $2.00 for a box.
What is not included in the quote?
Carrier postage is a pass-through cost and depends on weight, dimensions and destination zone. You can ship on our carrier accounts with UPS, FedEx, USPS and DHL, or connect your own negotiated rates through our warehouse management system.
How do you estimate your monthly 3PL bill?
Multiply your average monthly orders by your average pick-and-pack cost, add storage for the pallets or boxes you expect to hold, then add estimated postage. A brand shipping 1,000 single-item orders a month and holding 10 pallets would look at roughly $3,250 in fulfillment plus $300 in storage, before postage.
Why does the warehouse location matter for cost?
Our warehouse at 238 Lindbergh Pl, Unit 418, Paterson, NJ 07503 sits minutes from the Ports of New York and New Jersey. Short drayage runs keep inbound costs down, and a large share of the US population is within a one- or two-zone ground shipment, which lowers outbound postage as well.
